Everyone wants beautiful smooth healthy skin, but most of us lead busy lives with little time to spend on beauty routines.
For many people time is not the only issue but also finances, few of us have movie star budgets to enable us to go out and spend a fortune on skincare products.
Other people are concerned about the chemicals they are potentially applying to the skin and/or what the ecological cost is of manufacturing commercial products.
That’s why making your own at home face treatments is very appealing. Not only are they super cheap to make, but they can be made in minutes from everyday ingredients at home.
No matter what skin type you have, whether it be oily or dry or maybe acne prone, there is at home treatment you can make and apply to suit your skin.
There are many fruits, nuts and oils that contain essential fatty acids, fruit acids and even glycolic acids which often found in high-priced over-the-counter cosmetics or commercial skincare products. You can use these ingredients fresh for more potent and highly effective home treatment for your face and body.

As you can see by this comprehensive list, there are many readily available ingredients you can use to make a multitude of masks and treatments for your face or body.
To make a basic at home face treatment you can create the perfect treatment with these ingredients:
At home face treatment bases:
For dry skin you can use avocado, yoghurt, honey, banana, extra-virgin olive oil or whipping cream as a base. You can also use a combination of these ingredients depending what you have at home.
For oily skin and blackheads use fruit bases, banana, yogurt or avocado with a squeeze of lemon or lime juice. You can also use apple cider vinegar adding a pinch of baking soda or arrowroot. This combination is great for drying out or oily skin without over stimulating the oil glands into producing more sebum.
For acne prone skin use the same faces as the oily skin and blackheads recipe above with the addition of some finely chopped parsley, turmeric, a teaspoon of honey, extra-virgin coconut oil if you have some in a few drops of essential oils if you have any around home. Essential oils like tea tree, neem, lavender or rosemary are antimicrobial meaning they fight acne bacteria. TIP: Rub the inside of a fresh banana skin over your face after cleansing. Bananas are high in potassium which is a natural acne bacteria retardant.
For mature or ageing skin dry mature or ageing skin will benefit from an at home face treatment made from avocado, avocado oil, olive oil, evening primrose oil, ground oatmeal, and an egg. To this base you can add a few drops of carrot seed oil, rosehip oil, honey, a teaspoon of milk, and a squeeze of cucumber juice. This is a refreshing and firming mask for mature skins bathing your face in a moisture bath.
For itchy inflamed skin camomile tea, ground oatmeal, aloe vera, lavender oil, cucumber. A combination of these ingredients soothes and calms itchy inflamed skin.
For damaged or dull flaky skin and scarring carrots are rich in vitamin so mashed carrot pulp or carrot juice is great for repairing damaged skin. Avocado, olive oil, and other oils rich in essential fatty acids help moisture to penetrate deep into the skins layers. Adding oils like rosehip, argan, jojoba or borage turn any base mask face treatment into a nourishing repairing treat for skin.
For exfoliation brown sugar, tropical fruits such as papaya, pineapple and paw paw are all natural exfoliators. Sugar is naturally high in glycolic acid a common ingredient used in facial peels. You can make exfoliating scrub using a mixture of these ingredients or just brown sugar with a squeeze of lemon juice in a tablespoon of olive oil for a rich face and body treatment scrub.
