Even the most beautiful faces can suffer from periodic bouts of dark circles. If you are feeling a little jaded, don’t worry, even supermodels suffer from them from time to time!
Sometimes it’s just stress that has depleted your body of vitamins that cause dark circles, sometimes it’s lack of sleep or dehydration.
Some people are genetically predisposed to having dark circles, but more than often they are caused or made visible by one or more of three things:
- lack of adequate sleep
- a vitamin deficiency
- general dehydration
- build up of toxins
Getting rid of dark circles at home
Fortunately, there are easy ways to naturally eliminate these eyesores (pardon the pun) and look great. You can buy expensive undereye creams to reduce dark shadows and puffy eyes, but you’ll find that most of these contain one or two important ingredients – Vitamin K and/or Vitamin C or others as described in Natural Homemade Face Masks and Skincare Recipes.
What are these vitamins crucial in eye creams? Because these are the two vitamins that contain either antioxidants, reduce bruising and enable the skin to regenerate faster, like youthful skin does naturally. They boost the repairing power of your skin and it’s ability to heal itself. They also help it to hold moisture and utilize other vital elements important for maintaining moist plump skin.
So how can you use natural ingredients to get rid of dark circles under the eyes?
We have all seen images of women at the spa with cucumbers on their eyes. Cucumber contains many vitamins and nutrients that help to soothe, calm and deeply penetrate the skin. There are many more that are rich in the vitamins and minerals that counteract dark circles:
- Cucumber is great for replenishing missing vitamins that cause dark circles. Apply directly to eye sockets.
- Green leafy vegetables including spinach, kale, cabbage, basil, thyme, sage, cilantro (coriander) cauliflower, and broccoli are high in Vitamin K making them great for application around your eyes.
- Fruits rich in vitamin C like tropical fruits, guava, apples, basil, cilantro, pineapple, tomatoes.
- Soybean oil is rich in vitamin K.
- Almond oil is another natural dark circle treatment for eyes.
- Tea drinkers should save their used tea bags for a homemade dark circle treatment.
All of these, oils, fruits and vegetables and other ingredients are loaded with beneficial nutrients that are perfect for making masks and serums to remove dark circles.
How to get rid of dark circles with 3 simple remedies:
You can start with the age old cucumber or cabbage soaked in boiling water (and allowed to cool) applied directly to your eye sockets.
Dark Circle Remedy 1.
Squeeze excess moisture from two tea bags that were recently used, (optionally squeeze a little cucumber or cabbage juice onto the teabags) and place one tea bag on top of the darkened circle under each eye. Remove the tea bags after 15 or 20 minutes.
Dark Circle Remedy 2.
Crush 1 tablespoon of any of the following herbs (can make a mixture) of basil, cilantro, parsley into a mashed mix of any mix of the following tomatoes, cucumber, cabbage, spinach and blend well. Apply a little around your eye ares, leave on for ten minutes then wash off. Repeat daily.
Dark Circle Remedy 3.
1/4 cup of soybean oil and/or Almond oil. Add crushed parsley, basil and or cilantro leaves and a 1 inch cube of cucumber to this oil and leave soaking as an infusion. You can also add lemon or orange zest (skin) for a very powerful anti-dark circles remedy.
Either rub this oil onto cucumber slices and apply to your eye sockets, or dab this oil serum around your eyes before bed and first thing in the morning.
This is an AMAZING serum – it’s very potent – store it in a cool place out of light. Used regularly you will see a big difference within days.
These are just a few recipes – I picked the best ones for you :) they are so simple but work really well.
Even better than learning how to get rid of dark circles is learning how to prevent them. Get between seven and nine consecutive hours of sleep each night. Also, stay hydrated by drinking between six and eight glasses of water each day. This flushes away toxins that can contribute to issues including dark circles under eyes.
Enjoy trying these recipes – and more in Natural Homemade Face Masks and Skincare Recipes and don’t be afraid to adapt them and try adding different fruits and vegetables from the list above.
