Benefits of pineapple for skin:
Pineapple is not only delicious to eat, but is a wonderfully effective natural ingredient for use in homemade peels and masks.
Pineapple is rich in vitamin C, but also fruit acids and proteinases, or proteolytic enzymes that help to dissolve dead skin cells and stimulate new skin growth.
This sweet tropical fruit also has anti-microbial and anti-ulcerative properties making it excellent as a base for acne prone skin.
It also lightly bleaches skin removing age spots and freckles.
If you want to make a really strong acid peel with pineapple and papaya, another fruit that is rich in papain enzymes with the addition of sugar or molasses which are high in glycolic acid.
Glycolic acid is used in many skin peels, it is one of the strongest naturally occurring acids in food that can be applied to skin.
