Zap That Zit: Honey Banana Mask For Acne

Bananas are effective for use as an acne mask. Bananas are high in potassium which  suffocates the bacteria in cells, helping blemishes heal faster. Bananas have anti-bacterial properties also, so when combined with honey, essential oils like tea tree, neem and lavender make a simple but powerful acne mask.

Ingredients:

1 mashed banana

2 to 3 drops tea tree, neem and/or lavender oil

If you don’t have essential oils handy use a squeeze of lemon or lime juice and a pinch of baking soda or turmeric powder

Optional extra – add a tablespoon of unsweetened yogurt to boost this recipe

1 tablespoon honey

Instructions:

Mix together well and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Stir and apply to skin leaving on for ten minutes before washing off. You can leave the remaining mixture in an airtight container in the fridge overnight and use again in the morning.  Lemon juice stops the mixture going brown.

I have an autoimmune disease called Dermatomyositis which is a skin and muscle inflammation disease. Currently my skin had been in a “Flare up” since July. My face even started to develop acne at the age of 45. About 1 month ago I started using all natural organic products on my face such as extra virgin coconut oil, grapeseed oil and finish with rubbing my face twice daily with banana peels. Acne completely gone and skin inflammation had greatly reduced. I can’t believe the difference!
